Carlo Balistrieri is President and CCO of the Botanical Gardening Group. He is a professional garden photographer, writer, speaker and lawyer in private practice with a specialty in the international trade of rare plants. He began his public garden career as the curator of the Rock Garden at the NY Botanical Garden in the Bronx. He was Head of Horticulture at the Royal Botanical Gardens and Vice-President of Preservation for the Garden Conservancy. He has personally grown an astounding range of plants, from single-celled bioluminescent algae to Sequoia sempervirens, bulbs to epiphytes, orchids to cacti to African violets.RIDAY, September 11th

Laura Jackson is a 2006 graduate of The Practical Farm Training Program at The Farm School in Athol, Massachusetts. For the past decade she has worked for Snipes Farm and Education Center in Morrisville, Pa. helping establish and oversee their educational and farming programs. In 2008 and 2009 she taught a ten week course on organic gardening at Pendleton Hill, a Quaker retreat center in Wallingford, Pa.For the past six years, Laura has taught organic vegetable farming to individuals and families living in the suburbs. As a young woman, Laura was a farmer’s wife on Raphine, Va

“NEW IDEAS FROM ENGLISH GARDENS”

You know Marta from her fascinating lecture on “All the President’s Gardens”. Now she’ll show us how to wake up our garden beds and borders with fresh ideas from across the pond. This lecture takes a peek at design techniques and plant combinations from contemporary gardens as different as the Eden Project and the Thames Barrier Park. Take inspiration from new designers at the Chelsea Flower Show as well as horticulturists responsible for breathing new life into historic gardens like Great Dixter.

    • Hi Karen,

      At this time we are not planning a 2016 Holiday House Tour, instead, we are organizing a spring luncheon with a fabulous guest speaker and possibly a tricky tray at one of the local Country Clubs. Please continue to check our website for details.
